The Deps Cover Scat stick bait is designed for fishing as a weightless rig. Its material has a high specific gravity and 40% salt content, allowing for stable, long casts. Despite its small size, the bait's bulky body, no sinker presentation create a distinctive action in the water that attracts fish. The bait's rear section is larger to resemble a crawfish, and its irregular dimple mold visually appeals to bass while mimicking the water flow around a crawfish. Additionally, a stabilizer fin ensures the bait falls horizontally toward the target.
The Cover Scat features fins on both sides of the body, which serve as an "anti-cover" strategy by eliminating unnecessary parts and allowing it to move through heavy cover without snagging. The deep grooves on the Deps bait are there to enhance the hook setting while keeping the stick bait weedless. The stick bait's top has a place to secure the hook point, and the hook bend is guarded by a cup, resulting in a more weedless presentation. When fished weightless, the bait falls with an extremely horizontal motion, even when fished along vertical structures like overhanging trees, dams, or bushes on the shoreline. Moreover, it can be used to imitate a scurrying crayfish via the underwater "walk-the-dog" action when fished faster. Say what you will about its looks, but you could have the last laugh hauling in bass after bass!
